When you write or put a toe into the creative space you will indeed create waves. I am from the generation where if something wasn’t for you, you simply moved on.
Modern generations have embraced “Karen” as their spirit animal and learned to live in public spaces with folks not brave enough to stick their neck out and create but do possess an otherworldly skill for judgment, criticism, and profanity toward anything not 100% aligned with their internal zeitgeist.
I am beginning to jive with this new reality. Let’s place it in the category of cost of doing business and simply get along with our work.
In fact, yesterday I was having a conversation with one of my favorite young women and she used the phrase Super Model to describe surgically enhanced young women already nipping and tucking their botoxed porcelain skin— faces and bodies. I don’t know who they are specifically but I do know they are Kardashian adjacent. It is a look that I don’t understand and I sadly hope our young girls begin to see the freak show for what it is.
I am curious how Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington feel about this. Their secret sauce seemed to have been youth.
When we fast track our attention to the facsimile of something once organic and authentic — what do we lose along the way?
