I finished A Girl’s Story by Annie Ernaux, the 2022 winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. What makes this relevant — if only to me — is the difficulty I have had lately reading a book from start to finish. I date the malady as originating sometime around the Covid years mashed up with the constant tug of social media blather only a quick button away.
